The project \u201cBiotech-KISAN for Economic Empowerment of Farmers through infusion of technologies in Aspirational Districts of Assam (Baksa, Barpeta and Darrang)\u201dhas been jointly formulated by ICAR-NRRI, RRLRRS, Gerua, Hajo, Assam and KVKs of three aspirational districts. ICAR-NRRI, RRLRRS, Gerua, Hajo, Assam shall act as Hub and KVKs of Baksa, Barpeta&Darrang district shall function as partnering institutes for implementation of the project in above mentioned three aspirational districts. Four proven technologies have been identified viz., demonstration of low-cost protected cultivation of vegetables, technology showcasing of climate smart new stress tolerant rice varieties against submergence and drought (CR Dhan 801 & CR Dhan 802) with complete package of practice, demonstration of scientific backyard duckery & poultry for enhancing income and demonstration of composite fish culture (paddy cultivation cum fish culture). 5 villages were selected for the project in Barpeta district.
