A day long programme on World Soil Day, 2022 has been organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barpeta Assam on 5th December, 2022 remembering the theme “ Where food begins” at the training hall of the institution. A total 40 nos. of farmers and scientists attended the programme. Dr. Arup Kumar Deka, Senior Scientist & Head welcome the house and briefed the theme of the occasion. He explained the importance of soil health for better growth and production of crops. He also emphasized on the pollution free environment through maintaining the soil health. The chair of the Chief Guest was adorned by Dr. Sunil Kumar Paul, Chief Scientist, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, Gossaigaon. In his speech he put more emphasis on organic farming and Natural farming to maintain the Soil Health as well as human health. He reported about the negative impact of use of inorganic fertilizers and other Agrochemicals. He requested all the participants for soil test in every three years gap and accordingly apply fertilizers for the crops. At the end, the programme was ended with vote of thanks.
