KVK, Barpeta has organized Kisan Mela on the occasion of Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta
Hamari campaign under ‘Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav’ on 26.04.2022 at KVK, Barpeta campus. Total
280 numbers of farmer from different corners of the district participated in the programme. As a part
of the programme, seven Exhibition stalls were erected where Self Help Groups, IFFCO, Small Scale
Industries, Department of Sericulture, Plant nursery and KVK, Barpeta was participated. At the very
outset, the Mr. A. Rahim Ahmed, MLA, Barpeta legislative constituency, planted a sapling at KVK,
Barpeta campus. The Exhibition stall was inaugurated by the MLA and he expressed good wishes to
the SHGs for their performance. In the inaugural session, the welcome address was delivered by
Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Barpeta. In his speech the MLA, Barpeta legislative constituency
encouraged farmers to go for organic farming rather than the chemical one. The DAO, DFDO, DVO
of Barpeta district delivered their valuable speech for the farmers. The Assistant Director of
Sericulture, Barpeta put more emphasis on rearing of different silk worms as it has the more income
generating and export demanded products. The Assistant General Manager, NABARD delivered a
speech on KCC loan and ACABC schemes. The Chair Person of Howly Town Committee expressed
that the women should come forward for farming equally with men.
Three progressive farmers of the district facilitated with Gamosa, Momento and certificate of
appreciation.
In the technical session, a Farmer’s-Scientist interaction was conducted and different
problems of the farmers were discussed and necessary solution was provided.
